A Void Means You’re Ready to Grow Again

When you’re on the spiritual path, you’ll likely experience times of feeling disconnected from your life.
You probably feel out of sorts, not quite yourself. There’s little interest in what’s happening around you. You try to make something happen and it falls flat. You may even find it difficult to connect with family and friends. It’s as if you’re standing in the middle of a large expanse, not really seeing anything around you and unclear which direction to focus.
In short, you feel like you’re in a void.
What is this void and what do you do about it?
Bigger picture - you’re going through an upgrade. An old way of being has gone as far as it can and your life is being reconfigured to better fit your evolving self. Like when your computer bogs down and you turn it off to reboot. Or when you head out to walk around the block when you’ve been at your desk too long. Or when you’re in the process of moving from one place to another.
Six things to help when you’re “in process”:
1. Go with what’s happening. When you’re in the thick of it, the only way through is through. Yes, you can try to go back to the old, but you’ll probably find that way of being doesn’t work anymore and doing so only makes things more difficult.
2. Know you’re not doing anything wrong. In fact, the void is a good sign. It means you are opening to a deeper level of your Self.
3. Your words and thoughts matter. Rather than saying “I don’t know what I’m doing,” say “I am finding my way.”
4. Remember the old is leaving so the new can come in. Ask open ended questions of yourself (and the Universe) such as
“What is being asked of me at this time?” or “What is the most supportive thing I can do for myself right now?”
5. Follow the threads and nudges that pop up around you.
6. Trust the Untethering. Easy to say, harder to do. Keep going anyway.
